The message is clear: I want to create a career path for myself while helping out an unbelievable cause near and dear to my heart. When she was just an infant, my niece was diagnosed with a form of liver cancer. My sister sought medical attention quickly, and, while one is never out of the clear with cancer, things seem to be going well for Alexa's case. Even after letting out a sigh of relief, I couldn't help but to think about one thing: not every kid is so lucky.
I started looking into St. Jude's purpose and mission. I found that money to the non-profit organization goes to more than just cancer research, which of course is of utmost importance. It also goes to the families of these children, so that they do not have to suffer while their child fights the greatest of all fights. Because of St. Jude, no family pays for medical expenses, including food eaten at the hospital during tough and difficult stays. These children are FIGHTING FOR THEIR LIVES, FOR GOODNESS SAKE. The least we can do as decent human beings is give what we can't take with us to Heaven anyway.....that green stuff that isn't nearly as important as people may think.
I want to write to do what I love. Whether I sell one thousand books or one-hundred million books, I will ALWAYS give 50% of my profits to St. Jude. That, my friends, is a promise. That's for my first book and beyond! I want to make an impact in this world in a time it is most needed. I want future authors to want the same thing. I want to start Just BE CAUSE Writing, beginning with "The Patient Heart," and I don't want the idea to end...even after my time comes. It is my belief that there are a lot of talented authors thirsty to make a splash. The best way to get something is to give something in return. After this dream of mine becomes a reality, I'll be looking for similar authors who have the same selflessness as me...who want to give 50% to a cause they care about throughout their career as well. Just BE CAUSE Writing is innovative and exciting and I can't wait to watch it grow. Together as authors, with the support of our readers, we can make a difference today, tomorrow, and always.
